Recently I was meditating about when Jesus sparred with Satan in the wilderness for 40 days. Jesus was fasting and denying his flesh when Satan came to him and tempted him with promises of wealth and worldly power if Jesus would just submit to Satan. Jesus resisted all the temptations and passed all the tests that the enemy put in front of him.
I believe the Lord was showing me that as we pass the tests put in front of us by the enemy, we get stronger in the spirit. I believe the more tests we pass the more kingdom authority we are granted because we are getting closer to being made in Jesus‘s image.
This doesn’t mean we should be performance-based. Some of our tests are often done in the secret place. So that we cannot try to take the glory for ourselves and get puffed up with pride. Humility passes the test whereas pride comes before the fall.
Much like in an army, soldiers advance up the ranks to captains, lieutenants and generals with battles they win while protecting their troops.
What the enemy means for evil God will turn for good. Every trial and temptation that we overcome brings us closer to God…. but God is so patient and so kind. He says the righteous man falls seven times and gets back up. Perseverance matters.
Even when you mess up, and do what you didn’t want to do or didn’t do what you wanted to do, (like the apostle Paul;) quickly repent, confess your sins, dust yourself off and keep marching so the enemy doesn’t torment you with condemnation and keep you out of the battle.
The enemy does not play fair, he plays dirty and often gangs up on you when you’re alone, so do not forsake the gathering together of the fellowship of the saints. Pray, fast and get back up in the battle. If the enemy leaves a trap before you and you cannot see any way out call on the Lord God Almighty and he will make a way where there appears to be no way.
Even when you have messed up, if you sincerely repent and serve the Lord God with all your heart soul mind and strength he will turn everything that the enemy meant for evil into good.
When you seek to please your commander in Chief, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, he will honor you as you honor him.
